NR starts Old Dalby reinstatement

Work gets under way on landslip repairs at the Old Dalby test track. Network Rail

Network Rail is starting work on repairing a landslip on its Old Dalby test track with completion anticipated in the summer.

A landslip in December 2023 closed the 13-mile-long facility, but poor weather has prevented work from taking place until now.

17,000 tonnes of spoil and vegetation are being removed from the site, with 19,500 tonnes of material needed to reconstruct the affected embankment. A 370-metre-long drainage system will be installed, while 265 metres of track will be replaced, along with new overhead line equipment.

Solar powered generators will be used to power equipment at the site in a bid to reduce noise levels for local residents.
